Niche Marketing
You may have heard that niche marketing is the easiest way to big bucks, but it’s not. No matter what the “Get Rich Quick” websites try to sell you on, a $100 product isn’t going to make you a millionaire.
It’s a lot of work with a lot of potential if you do it right, but first you need to know how that’s done.
If you want to establish yourself in a niche market, then there are certain steps that must be taken before you can ever make a dollar.
- Research Your Niche: Try to avoid niches that are run over by hundreds of entrepreneurs who know more about the niche than you do. Instead, pick something that you know a lot about that has yet to be swamped with money-hungry followers.
- Profile Your Target Market: If you want to sell to a niche market then you need to know who they are and what they want. If you don’t have something to offer your ideal customers then you’re going nowhere.
- Create Your Unique Selling Proposition: Offer something that hasn’t been offered before – or take something that has been done and make it different. You must provide a product or service that they don’t already have if you want their money.
- Target Your Marketing Efforts: If you want to see to a bunch of high school boys, then don’t waste marketing money on teenage girls. Market your product wisely and create a sales letter that qualifies your reader, speaks to them specifically, and builds urgency.
- Become an Expert: This one may be way too late in the list, but you’ve got to be seen as an authority on the subject you’re selling to. People won’t buy technology products from Shaquille O’neal and nobody is going to waste money on basketball products from Bill Gates. You need to be known in the industry you’re selling to – so search for ways that you can become an expert in your market.
