5 Tips for Understanding Your Target Market
If you’re looking to make money - online or offline - then you need to understand your target market. By finding out more about your target market you will learn who they are, what they want, and how to best position yourself for the sale.
Here are five helpful tips for understanding your target market.
- Survey: Find out who is buying from you or your competition. Sort your findings into groups: age, gender, location, finances, and so on. By gathering data about your customer’s you’ll have a better chance to increase your sales down the road.
- Study: Find out all that you can about your customer’s. What other products do they buy? What do they use your product for? What made them buy? How much are they willing to pay for a product like yours?
- Find Your Primary Market: Your primary market is usually the one that you make the most money from. However it could also be the customer’s that buy the easiest - the ones that you spend limited marketing efforts on while still bringing in money. By discovering your primary market you’ll be able to simplify your marketing efforts and replicate your success.
- Test…and then test again: If you want to know what makes your prospects buy, then you need to test everything. Make an offer, test it…then keep doing it until you find out what works and what doesn’t.
- Speak to Them Personally: When you’re advertising you should always make sure to speak to your target market like you would talk to a friend.
By applying these five tips you will improve your sales and increase your exposure. It doesn’t matter what industry you’re in, if you don’t understand your target market then you’re at a major disadvantage to your competition.
