Power in the Blog
In the last two or so weeks, I’ve been asked by half a dozen people who own small businesses: why should I start a blog. They’re interested in going online and they’re interested in starting a blog, but they don’t quite know why. All they know is that they should.
People are talking about blogs a lot these days. Blogging has evolved from the lonely nerd’s diary into being a medium for businesses to better connect with their customers. Blogging is personal and it is likable, it is entertaining and it is real. People need real. E-Businesses need blogs.
Blogs don’t only allow you to connect with people who are extremely targeted to what you sell (since they are interested enough in the topic to read your blog), but they also provide you with fresh website content every day - but not just any content, search-engine optimized content.
The words on your blog will push your website ahead of competitors on the ever important Google and Yahoo search engine rankings. The words on your blog will not only interest your readers, but they will also attract them.
If you’re a small business owner, then you need to get with the program. It is very likely that I’m preaching to the choir here, since this article is on a blog, but it’s still necessary to point out nonetheless. Put up your blog and maintain it. If you build it, they will come.
