While you are looking for jobs in gulf or once you get a job in the Gulf, and you have decided to relocate with your family, the most important factor to consider would be the relocation of your children. If you have young school-going kids, it is going to be a tough task for you to make them come to terms with this change in residence, country and culture. They would have to leave their friends, daily routine, hobbies etc and would have to adjust to a totally new way of life in the Gulf. This can be taxing for he children. So, you must prepare them emotionally and mentally before you relocate to take up that job in the Gulf.

Other than preparing them, you would also need to gear up yourself to find them a good school in Gulf. You would have to finalize a school that best fits your child’s needs and lets him continue the kind of education that he was receiving at this native location. If not exactly the same curriculum, then at least a similar education pattern so that absorbing that system is not a big challenge for your child. However, the question is how to finalize the right school in the Gulf for your child. A little planning in advance and some consideration can help you arrive at the right decision.

To start with, you must start research on the available choices of schools in your new location. You can do this online by visiting various web resources. Other than that, you can also ask for personal recommendations from your prospective employer or would-be colleagues. The best would be to ask people who have relocated to the Gulf from a foreign location. If they have migrated with their families, they would have ready advice for you for the school that you should choose in the area. You can also contact your foreign office or embassy to get first hand information on this. Otherwise, you can network with parents of that area online.

If the duration of contract of your job in the Gulf is going to be more than two years or so, you would have to make sure that you choose an international school for your child, so that when he/she joins back school in the home country, there is no loss on education front. If you are relocating for a period of more than five years, then you can choose a local school too as it will let your child absorb the new culture, get more stability in the long run and let him learn a new language.

If you are moving to a popular expatriate location in the Gulf for your job, you would have many choices in terms of schooling for your children. However, if the location is not a popular one, it is likely that your options will be limited and you might have to look at far-off schools or compromise on this front. You can get all information regarding this from the PRO of your new company.

Once you have short listed a few schools, it would be advisable to go through the school policies and get a clear picture of how the school deals with various issues regarding students. Also try to find out if the school encourages parents’ involvement in the education of children, in decision-making, problem resolution etc. Also, find out whether the school is recognized by the state government or not. Ask for the previous academic records of the school sand get details about the activities offered to students in the school other than the regular curriculum.

Before finalizing, see what the prevalent culture in the school is. Would the teachers and other students readily accept a foreign student? What is the language used by the teachers in the school? Does your child understand that language easily? What are the curriculum details? In fact, study the curriculum in detail to ascertain if your child can easily shift to this system from his current learning program. These small but important questions will let you take a correct decision in choosing the most suitable school for your child. So, while you enjoy your job in the Gulf, you would also be assured that your child is receiving the best education possible.
